Marlborough Sounds Paradise.

A small bach in a spectacular location close to the beach, asked for integration and development while respecting the 'batch character'.

A number of vantage points were formalised on the site, with persistent on shore winds demanding the development of an outdoor area away from the beach out of the wind. Rock and sleepers were used to 'naturalise' the new areas and plants found within the surrounding bush will ensure the sounds vegetation that surrounds embraces the house disguising any boundaries.

The cricket pitch has been preserved for future generations.

"Rory's ideas were great, they took the essence of what we wanted and added lots of his own thoughts. It was also great to find someone who was just as enthusiastic about the project as we were. The result has transformed the bach making the spaces much more interesting and useable.

In terms of the logistics, Rory was very hands on despite the location, and easy to work with over the Internet. Cost estimations were realistic and very helpful in planning the project. We also complicated things as a client by getting engaged before the physical work had started. Despite that, it all looked fantastic when we had our wedding there 6 months later!"
