hover mouse over small images Richmond Hills - country living:An interesting Mediterranean styled house had been developed and the garden partially completed. A visible area earmarked for a pool needed rethinking and integrated with the developing garden round. The challenge was to build on the architecture of the house, enhance the indoor outdoor flow and due to the sites location, create a central hub and structure to the wider developing garden. An unfinished and very visible 'future pool' area was the focus of the new development, and this gave motivation to the incorporation of water into this area. An outdoor gathering area and pergola extended the living areas out into the garden to capitalise on the spectacular views on offer. A ornamental reflecting pool located within the pool area provided water and gave formal focus to the garden with pergolas providing both linkages and focus to the garden as one moves through the garden. Materials chosen extend elements of the architecture out into the garden to ensure integration and overall place making. |
